The word "jazzical" was first used by the late Charles Mingus, aka "The Angry Man of Jazz." He was an incredibly talented Jazz bassist and composer who also was an activist against racism. Mingus was born in 1922 on a U.S. Army base in Arizona and died of Lou Gehrigs disease in 1979 in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. He recorded The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, one of the only jazz albums to have a clinical psyhcologist, Edmund Pollack, study it and write notes about it.
Presently, Ivan Tolbert is D. Ella Vaughns musical partner in The Jazzical Experience. He is a Fort Worth native who believes that music makes the world revolve because of the magical power it creates in changing moods. He grew up listening to lots of music and was inspired by one of my favorite legendary opera singers, Luciano Pavarotti. He studied opera at Louisiana State University on a full scholarship. His voice is an angelic, bold, emotional and beautiful gift! You can go to www.itunes.com/ivantolbert or his website www.ivantolbert.com to buy "The Big Debut" cd. Or even go to CD Source in the Old Town Shopping Center in Dallas, Texas to see if they have it in stock.
In addition, Fort Worth native D Ella Vaughns "Look At Me Now" by The Gravity Heights Music Company is also awesome! So for you "Magazine Girls" out there "when was the last time" you enjoyed those "sweetest kisses" by your "sexy superman?!" Well all those fabulicious songs are on that cd & you can buy on Vaughns myspace www.myspace.com/ellavaughn
Furthermore, The Jazzical Experience takes place every three months and you can go to jazzicalexperience.com to get details on upcoming shows. D Ella Vaughn does her own hair/makeup and wardrobe changes, choregraphs the show and even organizes the catering! She has fun with it and sees it like a baby enjoying seeing it grow as each show comes and goes. If you can't wait for an upcoming show, you can book for The Jazzical Experience privately by getting in touch with them on their website. What a perfect romantic way to show your appreciation to that special somoene for Valentines Day coming up or even a wedding or anniversary! They are looking for major sponsors at the present time to help them keep this cool show on stage. Speaking of sponsors, the fabulous Antonio Wingfield sponsored the most recent show at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Center Theater. All of the beautiful gowns on stage wore by D Ella Vaughn during this performance were Antonio Wingfield designs.
In fact, the amazing award winning designer Antonio Wingfield who is a UT Longhorn alumni interned at the fabulous house of Christian Dior in Paris, France. We can thank Diana Ross for inspiring Antonio to become a designer because as a child Ross became his muse. He is CEO and founder of AFM Productions. AFM stands for Art, Fashion, and Music. I can't wait to see "Internal Vanity Opera", his theatrical creation of a fashion opera about three successful Texas women!
On the whole, The Jazzical Experience is something not to be missed! It's a fun family friendly event that you will enjoy. So please help support these amazing and talented people by going to their shows, booking a private one, buying their cds or through a sponsorship.
